hi, I tried a BIOS update from Windows to the last BIOS version and even if all seemed to goes fine now the machine start and it make one beep and then 2 beeps and appear BIOS screen resume with CMOS checksum Error. I tried every change in BIOS but every time it reboots it give me this error. If I press F1 tha machine shutdown and restart with the error, just if I enter BIOS and check click without saving it goes on just showing a blinking cursor. Then I tried AMI recovery and it start but it give me 5 beeps the a beep every 3 seconds or so. Finally I removed the two BIOS chip on mainboard that are 4MB instead the BIOS is just 1 MB. I attach here the BIOS backup of the two chips. The white one is the chip mounted more near to the mainboard end and the other is the chip that stay back to the other.
hi Mondi, well it says its an Aspire X3900, here the Acer link: https://www.acer.com/ac/it/IT/content/support-product/1881?b=1 About mb model I checked on it and I found just these two labels, anyway I attach here: a picture of the system information a picture of the start boot screen and error I also forget to say that even if I change things into BIOS and choose save when I start again changes are not saved. The only saved thing is the clock and date settings. Finally her a picture of the labels on the mb.
First, Can you update the bios at the previous versions, not the last one, from the windows system,, and then try it ? Second, I build new bios from your backup file , and you can try them too. Aspire X3900 bios 2 bios from 4 MB
The desktop doesn't boot in anyway and every time it reboot it give me the checksum error. I tried AMI recovery from USB and DVD using all the original ROMS found on the Acer support page but every time instead of 4 beeps it give me 5 beeps and the keeps on to make a beep every 3 seconds. Now I try to program the 2 chips with your new bioses.
Dear Mondi, you did a big job. As I told I reflashed both chips with your new BIOS images and now the machine works again, GREAT!!!!
